Monthly Construction and Environmental Update November 2008

Escatawpa to Jones Road (8,650’) –
• Base and pave project through this section underway.
o A layer of soil-aggregate base has been placed over completed sub grade.
o Application of “prime coat” over soil-aggregate base should begin in December.
o Asphalt layer should begin in early December 2008.
• Perimeter silt fences, wattles, and inlet protection devices in place for sediment control.

Jones Road to Walter Tanner (10,650’) –
• Base and pave project through this section underway.
o A layer of soil-aggregate base has been placed over completed sub grade.
o Application of “prime coat” over soil-aggregate base should begin in December 2008.
• Perimeter silt fences, wattles, and inlet protection devices in place for sediment control.
• Grading work and slope stabilization just east of Scarbo Creek bridges should be completed by early December 2008.
• Slope stabilization anchoring system for high fill sections remains in progress.
• All other areas stabilized with BMPs.

Walter Tanner to Wilmer-Georgetown (4,186’) –
• Temporary BMPs controlling erosion and sediment include -aggregate surfacing, wattles, inlet protection, slope stabilization with grassing, and rolled erosion control products.
• Construction of roadways, drain pipes, and ditches from Station 270 to 280 complete.

Wilmer-Georgetown to Glenwood (13,617’) –
• Slope issues at Long Branch have been completed with buttress and chimney drain system and area stable.
• Slope issues near Station 360 have been completed with buttress and chimney drain system.
• Ditch line excavation and grade work for roadway has begun around Station 385.

Glenwood to east end (4,964’) –
o No work this month.
o Area stabilized with temporary vegetation and BMPs.
o Future side drainage ditch lines and treatment ponds have been surveyed for each outfall in Collins Creek area in anticipation of upcoming construction.

Environmental Issues:
- Rain Days: Nov 7 (0.26” avg.), Nov 13 (0.82” avg.), Nov 24 (0.44” avg.) Total of 3 rain dates this month. No water quality violations.
